"A mother doesn't just 'give birth'; it is an interaction between two human beings" - Dr. Harlan Ellis
CranioSacral can facilitate this interaction, deepening communication between a mother and her unborn child, as well as preparing a woman's body for the process of pregnancy and delivery. Working gently with the tissues we release physical restrictions which might inhibit conception or complicate pregnancy and delivery, as well as to allow the newborn the greatest opportunity to thrive.
CST has been used instead of pitocin to both start and/or augment labor.
Mothers receiving CST have not shown any evidence of prolonged labor
Infants born to those mothers who have received epidurals and CST have shown no negative effects from the epidural.
Mothers report easier, calmer babies after the use of CST
Involving fathers to be and siblings during CST sessions seems to strengthen family bonds
"The inner wisdom of a fetus and an infant is every bit as intelligent as that of an adult. It knows what it's body needs to correct its dysfunctions. It knows why those dysfunctions are present. It has a softer voice than the adult wisdom. Therefore, the CranioSacral Therapist must learn to listen more carefully. Once the correction is made, all the information you need will be forthcoming."
