Detox Health Benefits: Power Boost Your Detox in 6 Easy Steps

Once you have the nutrients on board to support a healthy detoxification, you can use certain detox strategies to support your body’s detox process.

Here, I’ll cover six easy steps you can use to help boost the clearance of toxins that are making you feel bad.  These are easily done at home or at your local gym.  They are gentle on the body and easy to do.  Let’s dive in!

FEET FIRST

First is a foot bath.  Skin in one of our detox organs and feet have large pores.  So, you can actually pull toxins out of the body through your feet.  How fun is that!

One of my favorite things to do is have a pedicure.  I love soaking my feet.

You can do this at home just by sitting on the side of your tub.  Run water as hot as you can stand in the tub.  Just a few inches is enough to cover your feet.

Add two to three cups of Epson salts and soak your feet for 20 to 30 minutes.  You can read a great book while your feet soak to help pass the time.  This is a great thing to do when you get home from work.

You can also buy expensive foot detox baths if you’d like, but you’ll still get the detox health benefits using your own tub.

BRUSH IT OFF

Second is dry brushing.  Dry brushing is when you take a dry, fairly soft bristled brush and start brushing your skin.

Start down at your feet with quick, short strokes in the direction of your heart.

Brush all around your legs, all the way up to your trunk.

Then, move to your wrists brushing up each arm to your shoulder.

You can also brush up your trunk.

Dry brushing helps to wake up your skin and moves lymph and only takes about 5 minutes.

After dry brushing, jump in the shower and wash as you normally would.

Once you get in the habit of dry brushing, you’ll love it.

REBOUND, IN A HEALTHY WAY

Third is rebounding.  A rebounder is a tiny trampoline.  Gently bouncing on a rebounder for 5 to 10 minutes each day helps to move the lymph through the lymph system.

We talked at length about the lymph system during the Clean Living is the New Sexy! Class.  It’s important to remember that the lymph system doesn’t have a pump like the cardiovascular system has the heart.

The lymph is moved through our bodies through motion.  It’s important to move lymph through the lymph system because the system is filled with nodes that are filters that remove toxins.

We want to help the body get rid of the toxins be sending lymph through these filters and rebounding is a great way to do it.

Many people like the rebounder because it is small enough to fit in the bedroom and it is easily moved it necessary. If you already have a full-sized trampoline in the backyard, you can get the detox health benefits by gently bounce on that, too.

It is best to exercise when your cortisol levels are at their highest.  If you’re in good health, that should be in the morning.

While you’re detoxifying, exercise should be gentle.  This is not the time to be pushing to reach new levels of fitness.

OIL PULLING

Fourth is oil pulling.  Oil pulling entails putting about 1 teaspoon of coconut oil in the mouth and swishing it around gently for about 20 minutes.

Some experts recommend a tablespoon of oil.  I tried that and nearly gagged.  One to two teaspoons will work just fine.

Be sure to use an organic, extra virgin coconut oil.  Using a lesser quality oil can actually have the toxins you’re trying to remove in it.  Ugh!

The oil will quickly liquefy and will continue to change consistency over the 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, spit the oil into the trash can and brush your teeth as you would normally.  I read an interesting blog about oiling pulling written by a dentist.  He does an excellent job of separating oil pulling health benefits facts from fiction.

TAKE IT LYING DOWN (really, it is okay!)

Fifth is lying on a BioMat.  A BioMat is a heated mat filled with crushed amethyst.  The mat is a far infrared heat so it more deeply penetrates the body in comparison to a heating pad.  This heat increases cellular detoxification.

A typical BioMat session is about 20 to 30 minutes long and incredibly relaxing.  You can buy a BioMat for home use or you can find a practitioner that offers BioMat sessions.

A BioMat costs about $1800 for the full size, but they come in a variety of sizes.  A session at your health practitioner office is about $30.

SWEAT IT OUT

Sixth is a sauna.

Sauna helps you sweat. In clinical research, sweat that has been captured during sauna (wouldn’t you just die to have that job?) has been shown to have heavy metals.

Heavy metals cause body aches, pains, headaches and more.

Sauna also helps with environmental toxins as well such as glyphosate.

To reap the wonderful benefits of sauna, plan on getting in the sauna at least four times each week.

The best benefit is from a far infrared sauna.  However, if you have a sauna that’s not far infrared, you’ll still get benefit.

If you find that getting in the sauna makes you sick or you can’t tolerate the heat, you may have a methylation issue that a well training practitioner can help with.

As with most protocols, start slow with ten minutes and build up over time to 20 minutes.

Sauna done on a regular basis not only helps with detoxification, but also protects from dementia is the later years.  That’s something that really interests me due to a strong family history.

Employ any or all of these to give your detox a boost while supporting your body with a healthy diet and plenty of rest.  You’ll be feeling more energized, mentally clear, and have a better overall sense of good health.
