Did I just lose you?
I am realizing that this is an almost taboo subject. No one talks about it; people are uncomfortable discussing it; there are no TV commercials about any helpful products; and if you want any in depth information on the topic, you have to research it yourself.
Why is that? Why don’t we discuss this openly? Every woman will go through it and every family will be impacted by it to some degree. It is a time when a woman’s brain undergoes a complete rewiring; we crave to discover who we truly are and what we want to do next. It is a time for creativity and a need to explore new avenues. It is a good thing … it is a time to bloom!
Still, menopause is a shift in our being and it can jolt our family. You need to understand what is going on with you (physically, emotionally and mentally) so that you can explain and discuss the process with your family. It can be a smooth transition if it is met with understanding, support and love. It can strengthen relationships, or hurt them.
Menopause can be scary and overwhelming, or maybe you will sail right through it. It can be fascinating, and a time for reflection, communication and creation. However, in the end, it is just a normal and natural time of life, and we should learn to embrace it as a time to flourish.
