Men get hurt. It’s a popular bit of social training that we, as men, are above trauma, emotions, getting hurt, or asking for help. The only acceptable emotion for me to show when I was a young man was anger. And even then, it was only acceptable to express it in certain circumstances. That sucks. It sucks holding onto sadness and fear for so long that it can only be expressed as anger. And it sucks living your life afraid to ask for help.
