I was born in Wichita, Kansas, and grew up in the Suburban Philadelphia area. When I was in high school, we moved to the Washington, DC area where I’ve lived for over 40 years.
Having sung in church choirs most of my life, and not having many other interests, I studied Music at the University of Maryland, getting a Bachelor of Arts degree with vocal music concentration. After graduating, I drove a school bus for public and private schools, but finding myself dissatisfied with life, I went to live in the Hare Krishna meditation ashram.

What inspired me to become a wellness professional?
I’d been a long time Vegetarian interested in Health and Wellness. My job was at a dead end, and I was unhappy there. I went to a Health and Wellness fair, and I spoke to this student attending the Acupuncture school. He was so infectiously enthusiastic about Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, I was very intrigued. I was ready for a change, for something new, so I decided to try Acupuncture for weekly migraine headaches I was having, at the time. When they subsided after 10 treatments, I was sold.
How my clients describe their first visit?
To a person, my clients invariably say, “I feel better.”, and it wasn’t what they expected. They also often say how relaxed they feel.
What I say to someone who has never tried Acupuncture?
It really doesn’t hurt. The needles are so fine and slender people often don’t even feel them. One woman was very nervous, and after the first needle was inserted she said, “Was that it? I didn’t even feel that.” Then she completely relaxed.
