Emily Eriko Kiba is a licensed acupuncturist (LAc) by the California Acupuncture Board and a certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl OM) by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Emily graduated from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine, the No. 1 school in California in the field of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).

What inspired me to become a wellness professional?

I got really inspired into Eastern Medicine especially when I was working for a company in Japan treating people with Loquat Moxibustion and how effective it was on some difficult diseases and thought one day she would like to come to the US to introduce this therapy to help people regain their optimal health.

How my clients describe their first visit?

They all love the treatments. They are quite surprised that the needles are not painful as they had expected and they find themselves very relaxed after a while. I usually find them a sleep when I come into the room again to either check on them or time to take out the needles. They love the cupping, and loquat moxibustion also gives them relaxation. Even the pediatrics love it!

What I say to someone who has never tried

In Eastern Medicine, we focus on balancing Yin and Yang energy. Yin is our substance portion (blood, body fluids, etc ) and Yang is the action and function, like gas and engine in a car. We need gas and engine for the car to run, in the same way we need Yin and Yang in balance to maintain optimum health. However, our Yin and Yang gets imbalanced due to the stress factors in our daily living and this imbalance is the ROOT of the cause to all of our symptoms, so acupuncture works to help get the Yin and Yang back into balance and treat the root of our cause.
