What inspired me to become a wellness professional?
I have a deep curiosity about life and the intersection of philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, social justice, and all things yoga. After leaving the dance world, I was drawn to the helping professions, first as a front line worker with under-served youth, then as a counselor/psychotherapist, and then as the director of several community-based, human service non-profits. What I say to someone who has never tried yoga therapy?
I love to share a quote from the Bhagavad Gita, that "Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self."
I also like to give new clients this part of the definition of yoga therapy from the International Association of Yoga Therapists, "Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship."
