I am a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist in the Bay Area. The style I practice is Japanese Meridian Therapy, a style of acupuncture marked by gentle needling and the prevalent use of moxibustion (a therapeutic herb burned near the skin). I came to East-Asian medicine through my own struggle with psoriasis and seek to bring the same relief, transformation, and advocacy to my patients that I have received from my practitioners of acupuncture and herbal medicine throughout my struggle.
What I say to someone who has never tried acupuncture?
Acupuncture refers to the stimulation of strategic points along meridians in the body that pass through various organs, glands, vessels, and tissues. These meridians closely follow lines of fascia that encase and separate organ systems, whose collagen-rich consistency serve as a conductor of electricity within the fascial lines.
