Remembering
It has been 17 years since the tragic events of 9/11 occurred here in the U.S. Besides the grief, shock and horror of those events, I saw an incredible coming together in this country that I have rarely witnessed in my life. Incredible acts of kindness, and caring came forth as we collectively healed from the unspeakable. I was at a seminar with one of my spiritual teachers, Dr. Christine Page in Santa Fe, New Mexico. People were there from around the world and the course of the agenda changed dramatically as we focused on addressing needs (how people would get home, etc.) and healing our hearts. What began for me in that moment was the deepening of my practice of moving into my heart center and letting it guide me as I move through this life. In today's world, I see fear being again predominant affecting us all. As I work with people, I find that many have put protective barriers around their hearts so that they won't continue to be hurt. That is a natural and intuitive response to being hurt, however, in actuality you are inviting in more of the same hurtful, exploitive energy. The truth is that as you dissolve the barriers, and open your heart to receive and give love, you open your self to greater possibilities for fulfillment and joy. Your perspective shifts and you begin to see solutions that you were unable to see before. And you have a greater capacity to let go of the attachments to how you think things should be. When we drop our attention to our heart center, we open to messages that we were prevented from seeing when we stayed in our minds only. I find it fascinating that science has found a brain with in the heart that send messages to our brain - We receive those messages when we open our hearts to the frequency of love and oneness. I know that it can be a challenge to open our hearts when life seems to be delivering heartache and seemingly insurmountable problems. Taking the time to each and everyday to drop into our hearts, express gratitude (even when it seems there is not much to be grateful for) actually opens the doors to greater love and potential in our lives. As we remember, let us honor those we lost by opening our hearts to receive and give love.Write your article here...
